Words: Power AND Longevity…

We must be mindful that not only are ‘death and life in the power of the tongue’, but also our words can reside in the atmosphere for generations.  Let them be God’s words of Life!

Genesis 49: 1, 2 & 21 (KJV)  And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days. Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.

21 Naphtali is a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.

Over three hundred years later:

Deuteronomy 33:1 (KJV) And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death…23 And of Naphtali he said, O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full with the blessing of the Lord: possess thou the west and the south.

*Since ‘Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks’, Naphtali spoke ‘goodly words’ that brought generational blessings upon his family.

Led by the Spirit of the Lord, Joshua sent out an edict that traveled over 600 years.  Joshua 6:26 (NLT)  At that time Joshua invoked this curse: “May the curse of the Lord fall on anyone who tries to rebuild the town of Jericho.  At the cost of his firstborn son, he will lay its foundation.  At the cost of his youngest son, he will set up its gates.”

Then, generations later:

1 Kings 16:34 (NLT)   It was during his reign that Hiel, a man from Bethel, rebuilt Jericho. When he laid its foundations, it cost him the life of his oldest son, Abiram. And when he completed it and set up its gates, it cost him the life of his youngest son, Segub.  This all happened according to the message from the Lord concerning Jericho spoken by Joshua son of Nun.

Proverbs 15:4 (KJV)   A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

We must practice speaking ‘the positive’ over our circumstances, loved ones, finances, friends AND enemies(Matt.5:43-48)!  Our Life-giving/Biblically sound speech can move mountains and speak volumes of healing, blessing, restoration, and reconciliation.  Start now, and let’s watch God move on our behalf!!!
